Joining forces with the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI)

Widely considered the voice of the UK’s HealthTech community, the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) supports healthcare companies in their missions to save and enhance lives. The ABHI champions the use of safe and effective medical technology (MedTech) and is a leading source of industry insight.

Firstkind Limited, a Sky Medical Technology company, has joined the ABHI to benefit from the invaluable signposting the platform provides to critical collaborators within its highly developed network.

Building a valuable network
Commercial success in MedTech is reliant on a company’s ability to build networks and maintain important relationships. The ABHI will help us connect with key stakeholders, such as governments, healthcare systems and regulators.

These introductions will help further extend our network of clinical partners. The objective is to support the implementation of the geko™ device in hospitals and clinics around the world, saving healthcare systems money while saving lives.

Being part of the ABHI community helps us bridge the gap between implementing MedTech solutions in healthcare and improving patient outcomes, making healthcare more accessible and valuable for everyone. Firstkind’s membership coincides with the ABHI’s recent shared initiative with Innovate UK to provide a £7 million funding programme to help UK SMEs navigate regulations, reinforcing its position as a driver of innovation.

Encouraging adoption
For the teams at Sky and Firstkind, the ABHI membership marks a significant step towards more widespread adoption of the geko™ device in international healthcare systems across the relevant care pathways. For the geko™ device, this includes the prevention of life-threatening blood clots (venous thromboembolisms), the reduction of swelling (oedema) and wound healing (leg ulcers).

Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Thelwell, believes: “Joining the ABHI community will provide invaluable access to market intelligence, insights into regulatory policy and improved access to government initiatives. The departments the ABHI can provide reach to include the AHSN network, Medcity, NICE, NHSA and the NHS, among many others. Our membership to the ABHI is perfectly timed to help us achieve our regulatory and strategic goals for the global adoption of the geko™ device and driving better patient outcomes.”
